On the 23 November 2009 the department of Energy and Climate Change opened their doors for further grant applications for Bio-energy developments. This is the third round of the scheme which has already funded 75 projects to help the development of the supply chain required to harvest, process, store and supply biomass heat, combined heat and power and electricity end-users.

Biomass heat boilers, combined heat and power equipment, anaerobic digesters and in-vessel composting are all examples that may be eligible for grant funding. The grant rate is up to 40% of the eligible cost.
