Free energy advice and capital grants available

A new scheme has been launched offering farmers in the south west a free energy resource audit. The initial assessment will include a visit to your property, with a detailed report of your energy, water and other consumed resources with recommendations as to how you can reduce inefficiencies. With energy prices increasing year on year this is an excellent opportunity to review consumption and look at ways of saving money.
Where inefficiencies and opportunities are identified there are grants available of up to £20,000 based on 40% of the capital cost. The grant process has been designed to be a straight forward and includes funding for items such as heat recovery units, nitrogen testing kits for slurry, rainwater harvesting equipment, wind turbines and biomass boilers.
