15kW Proven wind turbine - HerefordshireNatural Energy, West Midlands based wind turbine installers have recently commissioned small scale wind turbines in Hereford, on Anglesey and in Chesterfield. These installations reflect Natural Energy’s rapid growth within the renewable energy sector and show how wind power can be utilised for a variety of different purposes.

The Hereford installation comprises a 15kW Proven Energy turbine located on a working farm, whilst the Anglesey 6kW Proven turbine feeds a residential renovation project. The Chesterfield site has a 15kW Proven Energy turbine adding to the green credentials of a holiday cottage business located near the Peak District.

Each project benefited from grant funding from different sources. Being a domestic installation the Anglesey project received funding from the Low Carbon Building Programme’s householder scheme whilst the two 15kW turbines sourced funding through their respective Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) although the application processes were very different.

Whilst grant funding is clearly of great benefit to a turbine owner, the application process requires considerable patience and perseverance. Natural Energy has developed experience in helping prospective turbine owners through the, often arduous grant process.

Since the Government’s publication of the Renewable Energy Strategy and the proposed introduction of Feed In Tariffs (FITs) in April 2010, Natural Energy has seen an upturn in interest to install small-scale wind technology and currently has in excess of 60 projects in the pipeline throughout the West and South West of England and Wales.
