Despite the increased milk prices and the efforts of the residual producers in the UK to respond by increasing output levels as reflected by the extortionate dairy cattle prices currently being paid, deliveries recorded by the RPA continue to push the all time low figures to new lows!
Provisional figures for the month of January as published by the RPA last week reveal production for the month was 1,099.2ml more than 30ml less than last year which pushes the cumulative deficit compared to least year to 257ml – nearly 7 days worth.
Butterfat for the month was 1point higher than 2006/07 putting the cumulative situation 2 points up.
